WHAT I LOVE ABOUT UK- PLACES & FOODS!

Having studied in the United Kingdom, I can suggest you some lesser-known but amazing places to visit that would otherwise not show up on the map and some obvious mouth-watering delicacies of the country!

PLACES TO VISIT!

  1. Nottingham Castle: If you are a fan of Robin Hood and his Merry Men, this is just the place for you! You will see the statue of Robin Hood right here, just like in the story! If you visit Nottingham, make sure to visit the oldest pub in England, ‘Ye Old Trip To Jerusalem’ for some of the finest beer the country has to offer!
  2. Brighton Pier: The pier has become popular with the public, with over four million visitors in 2016, and has been featured in many works of British culture and Bollywood (Desi Boyz). If you are a fan of rollercoasters and amazing rides, this is not a place to be missed!
  3. Cornwall: If you are into art, cafes and beaches, Cornwall is the destination for you! The most sun-soaked region of England, Cornwall is the respite that you will need from the chilly rainy weather of England. The north coast is lined with beautiful cliffs and is for brilliant for surfing. The famous and delicious Cornish pastry also comes from this small country.

THINGS TO TASTE!

  1. Beer and Cider: The real taste of England lies in these two beverages. Beers have been brewed in the UK for hundreds of years and are known for its top fermented cask beer which finishes maturing in the cellar of the pub rather than at the brewery. Ciders are made with apple. According to your taste, you can have a range of ciders that are acid forward, bold, rich and tannic, and full and fruity and as they say, “An apple a day keeps the doctor away!”
  2. English High Tea: This culinary experience will take you back to the generation of the upper-class English society. This is not your regular cup of tea; it is an extravagant spread! Essentially, this is a meal that is an amalgamation of Afternoon Tea and high tea, with chicken, salmon and fruit with additional savoury items such as Welsh Rarebit, English muffins, pies or omelette. One of the most famous places to experience English High Tea is the famous 'Fortnum & Mason' in London
  3. Fish and Chips: There is a shop at every corner of every city in the UK selling fish and chips and none of them tastes the same! So if you love fish and potato chips, a cross country trip for this cuisine is a must! Here’s a tip: Having a beer with this dish will be a pleasure to your tastebuds.

However, the first step to enjoying these scenic beauties and delicious cuisine is to crack your IELTS Test. Check out my courses to help you crack the IELTS and reach your dream university!
